Recently, the Agriculture and Rural Area Department of Jiangsu Province and the Intellectual Property Office of Jiangsu Province jointly printed and issued a Circular on Release of a List of Exquisite Agricultural Brands to be Developed in Jiangsu, according to which 66 brands (including Yangshan Juicy Peach and Gaoyou Duck Egg) were included in the first batch of exquisite agricultural brands to be developed, covering 17 regional public brands and 49 product brands.

The exquisite agricultural brand development plan is a significant deployment of Jiangsu Province for in-depth implementation of the “Bring prosperity to peasants by developing brands and benefit them by marketing” project, and an important impetus for advancing agricultural brand development. According to the Circular, intellectual property offices at all levels in Jiangsu Province will work with agriculture and rural area departments, and render more support to development of brands included in the list. Specifically, supports of provincial level will be mainly provided in aspects of industrial development, administrative service, intellectual property protection, marketing and promotion, and brand subjects will be guided to make policy-based innovations and innovations in management and mode. Besides, supports will also be given from perspectives of policy formulation, planning guidance, project construction and brand protection to guide brand subjects in construction of trademark brands, standardization of trademark licensing management, improvement of intellectual property protection mechanisms, promotion of brand operation capability and expansion of brand influence, so as to concert efforts in creating a batch of domestically well-known “Su” agricultural brands that are characterized by superior quality, good reputation, industrial development impetus and high competitiveness.

The Circular expressly states that, the list of exquisite agricultural brands is valid for 3 years. For exquisite agricultural brands to be developed, dynamic management and tracking services will be provided, while assessment of performance will be performed by investigation, spot inspection or other means at the provincial level.
