On the morning of July 8, Li Jie, Director of the Intellectual Property Office of Jiangsu Province, met with a delegation led by Morgan Cao, Senior Assistant Director of Global Engagement at the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) International. The two sides held extensive discussions on key topics including overseas intellectual property (IP) protection, the development of professional IP service providers, and the training of internationally oriented IP professionals. Deputy Director of the Intellectual Property Office of Jiangsu Province Ding Lan also attended the meeting.

Li Jie welcomed Morgan Cao and his delegation. He noted that the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government have consistently regarded IP as a key driver of the province’s high-quality development and have adopted a coordinated, integrated approach to building Jiangsu into a province with strong IP capabilities. As a result, Jiangsu has continued to rank among the top nationwide in both overall IP development and public satisfaction with IP protection. Highlighting Singapore as a global benchmark in IP governance, with extensive experience in establishing modern IP institutional systems, advancing coordinated cross-border IP protection, and training high-caliber professionals with expertise in international IP matters, Li expressed the hope that the two sides would strengthen practical cooperation to support Jiangsu enterprises in developing their overseas IP portfolios and handling IP disputes, improve the capacity and quality of the IP service sector, and contribute to the high-quality development of Jiangsu’s export-oriented economy.

Morgan Cao spoke highly of Jiangsu’s achievements in advancing high-quality IP development, followed by an introduction of Singapore’s policy framework for international IP cooperation, its specialized service models for cross-border IP matters, and its approach to developing multidisciplinary IP professionals. He then expressed the hope that the two sides would leverage their respective strengths to establish platforms for exchanges and cooperation between government and businesses, jointly support Jiangsu enterprises in pursuing innovation and expansion across borders, and train more IP professionals with international expertise.
